So many issues face us. Our candidate can tackle them and keep Westland a great place. Here are Debra's credentials and viewpoints about the issues that face our community:
The city of Westland responded resiliently when our country was rocked with the Covid-19 epidemic. Although now there is light at the end of the tunnel from this dreadful disease we must remain diligent. As a council member, I will continue to work with the administration and community organizers to increase the vaccine rates for our most vulnerable citizens of the city.
Public Safety is of the utmost priority for any city in America especially now during these challenging times. Serving several years as a member of the Police and Fire Civil Service Commission, I know first hand how important these brave members are to our city’s safety and well-being. I worked carefully with other members to oversee testing and hiring of police officers and fire personnel for Westland. As a council member, I will continue to work closely with the Police and Fire Departments to ensure continued protection and welfare for our residents.
As a member of the Planning Commission I worked closely with the city’s Economic Development Department and Planning Director to attract more business and families to Westland. As a council member, I will continue my pledge to improve Westland economically by working with city officials paying close attention to encouraging new businesses to renovate existing buildings in our city that are vacant.
